More self-service and design freedom thanks to customer portal with 3D configurator

The Rieder Group specializes in the manufacture of solution-oriented, environmentally friendly and economical concrete products. Inspired by customer requirements, the company pushes the boundaries of concrete beyond its protective function. Economy, intelligence, aesthetics and emotion are the ingredients that give concrete from Rieder a new meaning.

With a new customer portal including an integrated 3D façade configurator, the Rieder Group is taking another important step towards digital transformation. This new planning platform is intended to provide customers such as architects, students and artists with a digital and playful tool to interactively discover the concrete elements with their different colors, textures and surfaces.

The customer portal with its 3D product configurator is embedded in the newly designed Rieder Group website. The UX concept and UI were developed by the Munich agency Moby Digg. We used the CLM framework from Sitewerk for the backend.

The number of combinations of individually created configurations from the options of 3 different products, 23 colors, 9 textures and 6 surfaces is immense and offers architects a lot of design freedom.

However, the Rieder Group cannot physically keep all of these variations in stock. For this reason, a "digital twin" has been created for all possible variants, which can be exported as a dxf file. Alternatively, the registered user can order the physical sample of the explicit configurations via online check-out including brochures and data sheets and request advice. Due to the configuration rules stored in the backend, it is only possible to create valid product combinations. This prevents architects from having to laboriously search for all possible combinations in data sheets. When ordering samples, the user is shown whether the sample to be ordered meets all criteria exactly (Produkt✔️, Farbwelten✔️, Textur✔️ and Oberfläche✔️) or whether he/she may have to make do with 2 samples (sample A: product ✔️, color world ✔️ & sample B: texture ✔️). The sample order can be placed directly using the check-out function. This seamless process increases lead generation and is digitally documented.

3D configurator for concrete elements

More inspiration through digital mood boards

In addition to the 3D product configurator, a user account in the new customer portal also allows users to create digital mood boards. These can be saved for each project, for example, and enriched with images of projects already implemented by the Rieder Group, your own configurations of façade elements or even your own photos. They are ideal for architects in the project tendering and quotation preparation phase. To share mood boards with customers or partners, there is a PDF export function.
